About

AgilePgM® (Agile Programme Management) is a collection of best practices related to business analysis in organizations and projects that employ agile or hybrid approaches to project delivery. The world of project and programme management has been evolving over recent years, with agile methods and practices becoming increasingly popular as organisations seek to respond faster and more effectively to ever-increasing change initiatives.

AgilePgM provides programme managers with a disciplined but flexible agile approach to managing transformational organizational change, allowing for iterative and incremental delivery of outputs and benefits.

The governance model within the guidance ensures a programme will capture its vision, whilst empowering teams to work without undue interference. Built on firm foundations, the programme can evolve and react to business change in our increasingly dynamic world.

AgilePgM lifecycle (extends the DSDM/AgilePM process)

Pre-Programme – Justify the programme is needed and worth investigation further.
Programme Feasibility – Justify the programme’s inclusion in the organisation’s portfolio of initiatives.
Programme Foundations – Address key areas of vision, architecture, governance, culture and communication. Do not plan all tranches, one of the main goals of Programme Foundations is to plan first tranche (of projects).
Capability Evolution – Contains 2 main processes 1) Capability Enablement and 2) Benefits Realisation.
“Run projects” – Plan, initiate and execute projects to deliver the capabilities. Iteratively and incrementally enable consistent subsets of capabilities into the live organization. Deliver capabilities as soon as posible through projects with delivering outputs regularly and often. Run projects within tranches (tranches can be overlapping).
Tranche Review – Update BAM after tranche review to incorporate newest changes and lessons learnt. Update governance structure and/or processes after tranche review to incorporate newest changes and lessons learnt.
Programme Close – Confirm that sufficient capability has been delivered. Close the programme. Gather lessons learnt for the future initiatives. Review the programme against its vision and Business Case.
Benefits Management – Starts when capabilities have been enabled. An iterative and incremental on-going process that starts early in the programme where benefits definition commences.
